This Is my Final Video,
Chloe Howl - Rumour

This is the magazine advert, for the album
release, I made for my music video.

DigiPak

This is my DigiPak,
for my Music Promo Video.

Question 4:How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Evaluation Question 3: What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

To try and get some individual audience feedback, I posted my video on a site call WallWisher, and left it to other anonymous people to leave their feedback.
Alot of them were all positive, with the exception of a few that left feedback with possible improvements. Doing this allowed me to asses how successful the video is.

After doing this I found that the colours and editing was the most impressive and appealing part of the video. It caught peoples eye and kept people engaged.

All of the people that posted praised the video in one way or another, confirming that the video was an overall success.

One of the comments raised an issue with age.

There was purposely no narrative or meaning to the video, I was just trying to create something abstract and different to go along with the beat of the song.

Another issue was the lip syncing at the begining, the lip singing was out of time and really hard to match it up to disguise it.

Using the lyrics on screen appeared to be popular, and I was advised that putting more in there would have been more effective.

Evaluation Question 2: How effective is the Combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

To find out how effective the combination of my music video, magazine advert and digipak was, I made a survey on www.surveymonkey.com where I asked questions to try and get an average of what people thought about it.
I left out questions about gender, height, shoe size and personal questions like that.
But I did ask a question about age to see what the video etc was more appealing to and to find out a target audience.

This is was my survey,

I had an even amount of people answer the questions giving me a better average.

After looking at the results between the mag advert and the digipak,
the results are showing some faults in the digipak, more so than the advert.

The resulst are showing that the style of the advert and digipak are both eye catching and effective.

More answers where yes then no, meaning that the digipak
and the advert being together was successful.

No one answered no, so I think the advertisement was successful.

No one suggested any major changes or improvements.

I think the main link between them would be the bright colours.

On average my music video was rated quite good, no one voted poor.

I can confidently say that having the combination of the Magazine advert
and Digipak, promoted the video very well.
The bright colours seemed to attract an audience well, and i think that the people that answered the survey positively where most likely the younger age groups, as I feel they
would be more attracted to the adverts.

Today My Music video has finally been finished.
My video has no narrative and only involves two different shots.
The first piece of footage is myself singing the song against a white background.

The second piece of footage is someone dancing behind a white sheet with a hot light behind them.
The two shots are then edited together, using a range of layers creating different effects and colours.
To get the different colours I used an effect called, Colour Corrector.

Having lots of different layers, transitions and effects was very time consuming.
but having different layers allowed me to give the filming a box effect.

Music video process

The process for making my video on final cut is a very detailed and time consuming method.
My video is very stylised and there is no particular narrative to my film.
The video for the song is made up of two different shots. One shot of myself singing the so g the whole way through, and one shot of someone dancing behind a white screen, with bright lights behind them, to create a silhouette.
My video is made up of lots of different layers and lots of different bright colours.

Lily Allen

When I listened to Chloe Howl sing, it reminded me a lot
of the style of music Lily Allen sings. the tunes and beats
of the music is very upbeat and catchy, but the lyrics discuss
a more serious situation, but their videos are very bold and colourful.

Lily Allen - LDN

Chloe Howl - Rumour

Rumours lyrics

These are the lyrics for the song, Rumours.

When she turned thirteen she went astray
with her brothers dealer,so they say
she had the baby yesterday,
perhaps it's just a rumour.
They kept her prisoner growing up
told her Jesus was enough
she's really into dirty stuff
perhaps it's just a rumour.
And if you asked her she'd say...

I'm just tryin' to work out,
how to be like myself.
I'm just tryin' to work out,
these cards I've been dealt.

See that girl she's looking great
she used to be quite over weight
she may not be entirely straight
perhaps is just a rumour.
always did as she was told
apparently she's on the dole
spends it all on alcohol
perhaps it's just a rumour

I'm just tryin' to work out,
how to be like myself.
I'm just tryin' to work out,
these cards I've been dealt

'Cause she did it, she did it
her bed is forbidden
he's fitting she isn't
she keeps her face hidden
she told 'em good riddance

her sister got with him,
she wishes she didn't
and now they're all singing.

Just tryin' to work out,
how to be like myself.
I'm just tryin to work out,
these cards I've been dealt.

2 x Chorus:
I'm just tryin' to work out,
how to be like myself.
I'm just tryin' to work out,
these cards I've been dealt.

She did it, she did it
her bed is forbidden
he's fitting she isn't
she keeps her face hidden
she told 'em good riddance
her sister got with em,
she wishes she didn't
and now they're all singing.

I'm just tryin' to work out,
how to be like myself.
I'm just tryin' to work out,
these cards I've been dealt.

She did it, she did it
her bed is forbidden
he's fitting she isn't
she keeps her face hidden
she told 'em good riddance
her sister got with em,
she wishes she didn't
and now they're all singing.

Plan and ideas

For this song i plan to have very short fast snips of different things,
cut in between scenes of some lip syncing.

I plan to film different things for a long amount of time and then
be able to play them in fast forward or rewind.
eg, the clouds going past, traffic, people walking in a busy area,
a candle burning down, etc.

Some lyrics in the chorus that is repeated is,
'I'm just tryna work out, these cards I've been dealt'
So throughout the song I will have flashes of cards.

Also the song is called Rumour, so I will involve quite a fast
style of editing, to exaggerate the feel of someone
 being paranoid about rumours.

The beat to the song is very bold and fast,
giving the song quite a quirky, catchy feel leaving opportunities
to include very different, outgoing, scenes.

Chloe Howl - Rumours. (The new song i'm going to use)

I have decided to use a song by, Chloe Howl - Rumour
I found her song through youtube.

After watching her video I read the description,
this then lead me to her own website and showed that her music was free to download.

Youtube Covers.

I have been searching on youtube and sending comments and messages
to different female singers doing different covers of songs. here
are some examples of their covers and the messages.

Tori Kelly - Thinking bout you

Swim good/ Thinking about you - The Dolly Rockers

Thinking About You (Frank Ocean Cover) - Rome Cease

Unfortunately at this time,
none of the singers I have messaged have replied!

RESTART!

After weeks of attempting to film for this song, it has been hard to
find a reliable group of boys to be the band for this song.
I am currently emailing, and messaging female singers to try
and get an acoustic cover of a song, so that I can film myself in the video.
With the Deadline in only 4 weeks, it is going to take a lot
of dedication and time to start again.

Wish me Luck.

Overview so far.

Looking for a cast to be in my music video has been hard to find a
confident group of about 3 boys, who will commit to being in the video,
this explains the delay in starting to film my video.
I have finally found a cast of 3 boys, and a girl to be in my video
and we are going to start filming asap.

My plans for having the characters dress up as clowns for the
video will now change as i couldn't find anyone willing to dress up.
The storyline and camera shots will still be practically the same as in my original plans.

This is a lyric video that I made to make it easier for the
people that will be in my music video to learn the words.
